Prior to becoming an acupuncturist, Isang Smith provided expert services as a massage therapist and a running coach. Isang utilizes her experience as a competitive runner and martial artist to successfully create treatment plans for her patients. In conjunction with customized acupuncture techniques, Isang utilizes manual and craniosacral therapy techniques to restore patient’s wellness so they may return to sporting activities, duties at work, and overall well-being.

Isang earned her BA in Psychology from Columbia University, New York in 2009. While at Columbia, Isang was the captain of the sprint squad for Columbia’s Track and Field team. Throughout her Track and Field career, she competed at regional, state and national level competitions. After graduation, Isang competed in road races, duathlons, and mountain biking. She also became the Philippines National Champion in 2015 for the 1500m event in Track and Field. She currently is training in martial arts such as Muay Thai and Jiujitsu at the Renzo Gracie Academy in New York.

Isang graduated in 2012 from the Swedish Institute College of Health Sciences with an Associate degree in Occupational Studies. She soon after obtained her license as a massage therapist in New York State. In 2013, Isang started her own private practice where she worked with patients at various locations around NYC. In addition to running a private practice, Isang collaborated with companies such as REI, lululemon and NYRR, offering workshops focusing on injury prevention and self-care techniques.

Isang received her Master of Science degree from Tri-State College of Acupuncture in Manhattan in 2016. Isang is certifed through the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM), Board Certified by New York State, and a member of the Acupuncture Society of New York (ASNY). As a competitive athlete, Isang has a unique insight into the needs of athletes and active people. Her passion for treating orthopedic injuries is matched by her passion for focused training in running and martial arts. Whether someone is a professional athlete or a weekend warrior, acupuncture and massage therapy techniques provide a safe and effective way to optimize an athlete's performance.

As the health/wellness industry evolves, so should the clinicians/practitioners in that industry. Through continuing education, internships, and personal/clinical experience, Isang immerses herself in current scientific evidence and novel methodology in order to use the best available techniques for her patients.
